Robert Winship Woodruff (1889-1985), business leader and philanthropist, was born in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Ernest and Emily (Winship) Woodruff. He married Nell Hodgson of Athens, Georgia. In 1912, he joined his father's business, Atlantic Ice and Coal Company, serving as the purchasing agent until he joined the White Motor Company. Athos Rodolfo Giorgio Alessandro Menaboni, a scientific ornithological painter, was born 20 October 1895 in Livorno, Italy, and died 18 July 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia. Menaboni, often hailed as a second Audubon, came to the United States (1920) first settling in New York, then Florida, and finally Atlanta where he did decorative painting for the Swan House, a major project of architect Philip Shutze. Thomas H. English was a member of the Princeton Class of 1918 who later went on to become a professor of english at Emory University.
